This was by far the hardest song on the record for me to sing. Just not normally where my voice wants to go. I gave it my all, though. My buddy Chuck came up to track some drums on another track, and ended up putting down some guitar on this tune. Then my little guy Torrance came through with some great bass and drums. Probably most essential to the jam, though, are the horns, handled masterfully by my friend Alex Mason. It's admittedly a pretty ambitious jam, but I dig the way it came out! Hopefully you will as well.
lyrics
I was altering my conscious
untwisting knots inside my brain.
I got your message in the morning,
now I'm wondering where you're at today.
So, if I burn out both my retinas,
will the memories start to fade?
No, where the sun's at never mattered.
I'm always stuck under your rays these days.
Oh darling! I feel low.
If you think I'm miserable, let's go,
Just take me home.
Are you thinking of me lately?
If I knew what to, I'd change.
You can come back if you're ready.
It's tied my stomach up for days.
They're such long days.
Oh sweetheart, I'm so low.
You know.
My heart's so miserable.
Don't go,
Just come back home.
My face is still the same
as the one you used to claim.
Oh Darling! I'm so low,
you know.
My heart's so miserable!
You can go slow,
But come back home!
