At 40, I feel like I’ve already lived at least 2, if not 3, lives.
This song is for me. But it’s also for those people who’ve lived these lives with me. I’m happy to be here, and thankful for those who have been here with me.

One of my best friends and I have had a tradition for at least 20 years now where we write each other a song for our birthdays. You can’t over think it. It has to be written (mostly at least) the day of. So, I did this for myself this year. Wrote it quick. Didn’t over think. Recorded fast earlier today.

It’s the ruts in my soft tissue now, but it’s not the one I’d choose.

Laughed softly as you lost your head and drove back alone.

Was it waiting behind you then when you wrote me but I was in bed?
I rolled over like the cover of a book I didn’t want to put down.
