This is me trying to rip off Phantom Planet again. I just love the way they convey emotion in songs, what can I say? The beat in the verses is me thumping the back of my acoustic over several tracks and those signals going through my vibrato pedal. This is maybe my favorite bassline I’ve ever written. I wish I’d used real strings in the chorus, but I don’t mind the fake ones. As for the lyrics, I remember asking my buds about them because I felt like the chorus was a little too straightforward and Adam said he felt like the fact that they were so basic conveyed that the singer didn’t even have the energy left to be poetic about it. I liked that, so I left them as is.
